Literacy Roots is a South African literacy organisation committed to ensuring that every child has the opportunity to learn, read and thrive in the language that speaks to their heart.

Founded by Speech-Language Therapist, researcher and education advocate, Literacy Roots was born from the belief that language should never be a barrier to learning. Through multilingual children's books, caregiver education, educator training and community literacy programmes, we create culturally relevant resources that celebrate South Africa's diversity while strengthening early literacy.

Our work is grounded in research and inspired by the everyday experiences of South African families. We believe children learn best when they see their languages, cultures and identities reflected in the stories they read.

Beyond publishing books, we partner with schools, libraries, NGOs, corporates and communities to make literacy accessible, inclusive and joyful for every child.
